Avista restores natural gas service to 32,000 people affected by outage

PULLMAN, Wash. – Avista has restored natural gas services to approximately 32,000 customers who experienced an outage from the damage on the Williams Pipeline.

The Utility company said they have less than 250 customers left for an initial visit, with around 3,500 customers unavailable during initial relight attempts.

Avista urges residents and businesses not available during initial relight attempts to call 800-227-9187 at their earliest convenience to have someone return to relight.

“We are extremely grateful to our customers for their patience and support throughout the past week. This was a difficult time for residents and business owners in the Palouse and L/C Valley. We want the entire community to know that the kindness our service teams experienced was witnessed and felt,” Heather Rosentrater, Avista President and Chief Operating Officer, said.

Over 800 Avista crews, 300 mutual aid partners and around 60 private and local HVAC contractors continue to make progress on the restoration efforts. Avista will maintain more staffing throughout the week to assist with the relight process where customers were out of town or not home when crews were in their neighborhood.

For information on the relight process and when you can expect crews in your area, visit the Avista Website to view their restoration map for each region. This map shows the estimated time window for when crews will be in each affected area.
