Armed suspect on the run near Chewelah prompts temporary shelter in place

CHEWELAH, Wash. – A suspect on the run near Burnt Valley prompted a brief shelter in place on Saturday.

According to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies are searching for an armed male that fled near the 2400 block of Burnt Valley. Those living in the area were temporarily asked to shelter in place and lock their doors.

The shelter in place has since been lifted, but SCSO said they are still searching for the suspect and there is no immediate threat to the public.
