Annual Winterfest offers affordable ski lessons for all

SPOKANE, Wash. — The much-anticipated Winterfest, hosted by the Spokane Nordic Ski Association (SNSA), is next week, and tickets are selling fast.

The annual event on Jan. 14, 2024 at Mt. Spokane, is the only day that SNSA offers lessons for adults, kids, and those looking to learn skijoring to non-members for $20.

“No matter what you want to try or improve, there is something for everyone,” said SNSA staff member Trevor Finchamp.

Those wanting to attend must purchase tickets soon and come with ski equipment and a Sno-Park Permit. Those looking to rent skis can purchase rentals from Fitness Fanatics.

The Winterfest is also hosting the following events for free:

Treasure Hunt at 10 a.m. in the Selkirk Lodge- A fun treasure hunt on skis.Adaptive Demos from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.- Learn about the adaptive program and test out equipment. Participants can partake in a blind ski stimulation to learn how a blind skier navigates over snow.Waxing Clinic is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.- Hosted by the event’s title sponsor, participants can get free waxing services and snacks.13 Ski Essentials 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.- Spokane Mountaineers demonstrate their 13 essentials for Nordic SkiingTalk to the Ginge 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
