BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — In vitro fertilization patients in Alabama described the heartbreak and anger after a state court decision that called into question the future of IVF in the state. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra visited Alabama to lead a roundtable discussion with a group of IVF patients. Three IVF providers in the state paused services after the state Supreme Court ruled that frozen children were considered “extrauterine children” under the state wrongful death law. Dr. Rachel Charles, an internal medicine physician and an IVF patient, said the decision has left women like her in limbo.
