Kohberger defense and prosecution will not be allowed to contact jurors

MOSCOW, Idaho — The Latah District Court will not allow the defense or prosecution in the murder trial of Bryan Kohberger to contact potential jurors during jury selection.

District Court Judge John Judge filed a March 22 order prohibiting contact from Kohberger’s defense team and Idaho prosecutors with any potential member of the jury, which has yet to be compiled.

A separate March 26 defense filing argued that Kohberger’s due process rights were violated due to collusion between prosecutors and the Court in prohibiting contact with jurors.

It isn’t clear whether Judge will assent to the defense’s request to throw out the order prohibiting contact with potential jurors.

A previous appeal by Kohberger’s defense to overturn his grand jury indictment was denied by the Idaho Supreme Court on March 12.

Kohberger’s trial for the alleged murder of four University of Idaho students has still yet to be scheduled. A hearing to determine when the proceedings will move to trial was scheduled by Judge in late February for May 14 at 1:30 pm.
