AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – The death of a four-month-old in November 2023 has been ruled a homicide after a nearly five-month investigation, which also resulted in the arrest of the infant’s former nanny on Thursday, according to the Airway Heights Police Department (AHPD).

After receiving reports of an unconscious infant at a home in Airway Heights on November 2, 2023, AHPD officers arrived at the scene. The infant’s nanny, Sharon J. Arger, 59, was reportedly watching the infant at the time.

The infant was then transported to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital after life saving measures performed by AHPD officers, Airway Heights Fire Medics and AMR staff were unsuccessful.

After seven days on life support, the infant passed away.

Officials determined the infant’s cause of death to be a homicide on March 19.

Twelve days later, Arger was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Arger was booked into the Spokane County Jail for second degree murder on Thursday.

This is an ongoing investigation, according to the AHPD.
