SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) arrested nine people in connection to porch piracy just after the holidays.

The busy holiday season has come and gone but theft and crime in Spokane has not.

SPD’s Stolen Property Enforcement and Recovery Unit (SPEAR) has taken extra initiative in the holiday season to identify and arrest people connected to stealing porch packages.

One way they are taking action is by using bait packages that are able to successfully track some of the criminals involved.

SPD also worked to open a Facebook album that provided surveillance video from victims. They are hoping the community can help support their efforts and even identify suspects.

This effort led to the identification and arrest of nine suspects. Many of these suspects even receiving multiple charges from previous thefts.

If you have any information or would like to report stolen packages visit Spokane Police Departments Facebook group.
