4 injured after head-on collision on SR 97 in Chelan County

CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Four people were injured and transported to the hospital after a head-on collision in Chelan County Monday afternoon.

On Jan. 8 around 1:45 p.m., Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers were called to an injury collision on SR 97 near Blewett.

WSP released that an uninvolved semi jackknifed on SR 97 and was blocking northbound and southbound lanes.

A vehicle traveling northbound attempted to pass the semi by going into a no passing zone into oncoming traffic. The driver struck a vehicle driving southbound head-on.

The driver who was hit head-on along with three passengers in that vehicle were all transported to the hospital for their injuries.

At this time law enforcement does not believe that the drugs or alcohol were involved and has ruled that the cause of the crash was due to “improper passing.”

The extent of injuries has not been released at this time.
