32 dogs removed from home in Riverside, Wa

OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office removed 32 dogs from a home in Riverside on May 18.

The sheriff’s office started an animal abuse investigation when it was alerted that a person, previously arrested for prior animal abuse, had approximately twenty dog. Under conditions of release, the person was not allowed to have more than one dog.

When deputies served a search warrant, seventeen dogs were found. As the search continued, more dogs were found throughout the property. The grand total came to 32 dogs.

According to the sheriff’s office, Dr. Isenhart of Brewster Veterinary Clinic donated time and expertise to examine each dog, with assistance from Hailey also with Brewster Veterinary Clinic.

It was determined that 30 dogs were suffering from varying stages of starvation and dehydration.

All4Paws Okanogan Rescue is currently seeking foster homes, medical fosters, and experienced dog handlers for dogs in need of placement and rehabilitation. The rescue provides all necessary supplies and covers all approved care costs.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and more information may be released at a later time.
