3-time convicted felon arrested for shooting outside of bar & grill in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police officers have arrested a three-time convicted felon who allegedly shot a man outside of a bar and grill in Spokane last weekend.

On the evening of Oct. 20, officers responded to a possible shooting outside of a bar and grill near the 2400 block of east Sprague Avenue. When they arrived they found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound.

The victim was treated on scene and was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

Major Crimes detectives were called on scene to help with the investigation.

Over the next several days, detectives were able to identify a suspect. On Oct. 23, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

47-year-old Dumont Whitt was found the next day in Lewiston, Idaho. He was booked into Nez Perce County Detention Center for first degree assault and two new Idaho charges.

Whitt is a three-time convicted felon which include: second-degree manslaughter, seconds-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. On his record, he also had five prior misdemeanor charges.

Dumont Whitt is in Nez Perce County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Spokane.
