2 hospitalized, suspect arrested following shooting near Royal City

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – Two people are recovering in the hospital, and a suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting Friday evening near Royal City.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), deputies were called to

17000 block of Road 10 Southwest just after 6 p.m. and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.

The men were life-flighted to Confluence Health Hospital in Wenatchee.

The suspect, identified as 67-year-old Macario Mendez Tovar, was arrested at the scene and was booked into the Grant County Jail. The gun was recovered on the scene, according to GCSO.

It’s not clear what lead up to this shooting.

This remains an ongoing investigation; GCSO says they will provide an update on this incident on Monday.
