SPOKANE, Wash. – Two people were arrested for drug possession and immediately released from the Spokane County Jail on Thursday.

Around 11 a.m. on Nov. 9, deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a welfare check for two people passed out in their car in the Wandermere Fred Myer parking lot.

Deputies arrived on scene, where store security informed them a woman had left the vehicle and was now inside the store. A male was still passed out in the car, holding what appeared to be a bag of fentanyl.

When the man woke up, he noticed the deputies and immediately tried to hide the drugs. Jordan G. Swanson, 32, was advised of his rights and safely detained. Swanson also had an active misdemeanor warrant (Reckless Driving) for his arrest.

Deputies found the woman, 32-year-old Stacie L. Zimmerman, inside the store where she was detained.

A search warrant was granted, and deputies located 19 pills believed to contain fentanyl, a substance believed to be Methamphetamine, three Suboxone pouches, a glass smoking pipe containing a brown and white residue, two straws also known as tooters, pieces of foil with melted and burnt brown residue, additional foil, and foil containing what appeared to be two melted blue pills.

Zimmerman was booked into the Spokane County Jail for possession of a controlled substance. Swanson was booked for his misdemeanor warrant and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

SCSO said that as the Deputy was leaving the jail parking lot, he observed Zimmerman and Swanson leaving the jail, both administratively released from custody.
