17-year-old in critical condition, two others injured in ATV crashes in Coeur d’Alene National Forest

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — Three people were injured in three separate ATV crashes near the Horsehaven Airstrip in Kootenai County Friday evening.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, all three crashes happened at around 8 p.m. on Forest Service Road 209 in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest.

The Sheriff’s Office says all three riders were part of the same group. Two of the crashes resulted in multiple broken bones and head injuries.

The third crash involved a 17-year-old with life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says CPR was performed on the teen and first responders were able to regain a pulse.

All three riders were taken by helicopter to the hospital.

The 17-year-old remains in critical condition. The other two riders are currently in stable condition.

These crashes are still under investigation.
