BONNER COUNTY, Idaho — A driver, in a suspected DUI crash in Bonner County that occurred last Saturday, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

On Jan. 6 around 5:30 p.m., Idaho State Police responded to a crash on Old Priest River Road and Mathews Ridge Drive in Bonner County.

Through initial investigation, the driver of a Chevy SUV failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning left onto Mathews Ridge Drive and collided head-on with a Chevy Suburban.

The impact caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles and go off the roadway.

Inside the SUV was a 62-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman from Priest River. The 62-year-old man who was driving did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the hospital.

A 31-year-old woman from Priest River who was driving the Suburban was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

As law enforcement stayed on scene to investigate, evidence showed that alcohol may have been involved in this crash.

On Jan. 10, the driver of the SUV succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
