ADAMS COUNTY, Wash. – A yard fire early this morning in the 200 block of E. 2nd St. quickly spread to a house and a neighboring cedar fence, prompting evacuations.
According to Adams County Fire District #2, firefighters arrived on the scene around 2:30 a.m. The fire had already engulfed the involved house, leading to the evacuation of three homes, including the one on fire and its immediate neighbors.
With many volunteers away for the holiday, the fire district called for mutual aid from Adams County Fire District #1 in Ritzville. Their joint efforts were crucial in containing the fire to the single structure.
“This incident shows just how important it is to have a good relationship with neighboring departments,” Chief Labes of Adams County Fire District #2 said. “It is key to the safety of our communities and the citizens.”
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the evacuations, ensuring residents’ safety.
