PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) announced their plans for upcoming emphasis patrols on State Routes 26 and 195, in addition to Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass, taking place around the Thanksgiving holiday break.

These patrols will run from November 20 through November 30. They will target speeding, distracted or impaired driving and other violations as Washington State University students travel for the holiday.

District 4 troopers in Spokane, Whitman and Adams counties and District 6 troopers in Grant and Kittitas counties will participate in the patrols.

WSP officials emphasized the importance of being prepared for winter driving conditions. They suggested carrying an emergency kit with essentials like water, food and blankets.

“Make sure all the fluids in vehicles are full and the vehicle’s battery is in good working order,” WSP officials said. They also recommended using all-season or snow tires and having tire chains available for mountain travel.

For more information, WSP advises checking the Washington State Department of Transportation website.
