UPDATE: May 15 at 7:45 p.m.

The planned closure of SR 18 at the I-90 interchange, initially scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed because of anticipated rain, WSDOT noted in a release.

Officials noted that the work will not take place over Memorial Day weekend.

Updates on the next possible work window are forthcoming.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. – State Route 18 will close for five days at the I-90 interchange near Snoqualmie to expedite construction on the new diamond interchange, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said in a release.

WSDOT said the closure will result in a major disruption in traffic flow, but emphasized the approach will allow crews nearly three months of work to be completed in just five days.

This decision is intended to avoid multiple weekend closures and keep the project on schedule, WSDOT added.

The closure will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, and last until 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21.

WSDOT explained that while I-90 will remain open, there will be restrictions on on- and off-ramp traffic. Eastbound I-90 traffic can only turn right onto westbound SR 18, and westbound I-90 traffic can only turn onto Snoqualmie Parkway or continue west. No left turns will be permitted from either ramp.

Detours will route through exits 22 and 27, and freight haulers are advised to plan ahead and avoid unsuitable roads like Issaquah city streets.

Emergency responders, the Snoqualmie Valley School District, and Sound Transit buses will maintain access through the work zone.
