WSDOT plans full replacement of I-90 Hansen Road overpass near Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced on Friday that a full replacement of Interstate 90’s Exit 174 Hansen Road overpass has been planned, and design work is currently underway.

The overpass will remain closed until December 2026, when the new structure has been completed.

According to WSDOT officials, the Hansen Road bridge over I-90, originally built in 1958, was closed on January 17 following an inspection that revealed “significant deterioration of the bridge deck and pier caps.”

“Due to the deterioration of the bridge, there is no temporary fix to reopen the road,” WSDOT officials stated. “The community and travelers should plan for an extended closure until repairs are complete.”

After design work is completed, the old bridge will be demolished in June and construction of the new bridge is scheduled to begin in July.

WSDOT officials noted that all Exit 174 ramps from I-90 will remain open. Detours have been established on Exit 169 Hiawatha Valley Road, east of Hansen Road and Exit 174.
