KENNEWICK, Wash. – Dozens of boxes filled with wreaths arrived at Mueller’s Desert Lawn and Memorial Park in preparation for “National Wreaths Across America Day.”
Each box contained 12 wreaths, contributing to a total of more than 1,400 wreaths. The event aims to honor and remember veterans during this holiday season.
Karen Schultz, the Volunteer Location Coordinator for Wreaths Across America, is a veteran herself. She expressed her deep connection to the cause.
“This is very meaningful to me because our service never stops, even when you have been discharged or retired from the military. Your service doesn’t stop,” Schultz said. “Wreaths across America has a saying that a person will die twice when they take their final breath, and again the last time their name is ever spoken. So we say their name when we place these wreaths, and we honor their service, and we will continue to do so as long as we can.”
A full ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 13, at Mueller’s Desert Lawn and Memorial Park, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend and participate in honoring veterans.
