UPDATE: January 20 at 6:20 p.m.

More than 200 protestors gathered outside Congressman Michael Baumgartner’s office today as part of the ‘Women’s Walk Out March.’

They carried signs mentioning Renee Good or urging the congressman to oppose increasing ICE operations.

One protestor expressed their concern, saying, “Women being dragged out of their cars or shot is inhumane.”

Another participant voiced disappointment in Congressman Baumgartner.

“I’m disappointed in our congressional representative Mike Baumgardner because it seems like he’s just kind of going along with the program at the administration and doesn’t seem to be listening to what his constituents are saying,” they said.

During the protest, three counter protesters drove by, with one calling for more ICE presence across the U.S. from their vehicle window.

Today’s demonstration was part of a larger nationwide protest known as the ‘Free America Walkouts.’

SPOKANE, Wash. – A rally organized by Spokane Indivisible, Spokane Visibility Brigade and Mikey Monday will take place at Representative Michael Baumgartner’s office on Tuesday, January 20, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event is part of the nationwide Women’s March “Walk Out” and aims to address concerns about fascism.

Although Baumgartner will be in Washington, D.C. and not present, rally participants are encouraged to peacefully gather on the sidewalk outside his office at 528 E Spokane Falls Blvd.

Organizers have emphasized that this is a peaceful event, urging attendees not to approach Baumgartner’s office without an appointment.

They also advise against parking in Baumgartner’s lot, suggesting the GREEN lot across the street at the WSU Campus as an alternative.

Participants can register online to attend the rally.
