SPOKANE, Wash. – Hoopfest is set to bring excitement to Spokane with its opening ceremonies scheduled for 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. The event promises a bustling scene in downtown Spokane, especially with the introduction of the Pro Women’s Freewell 3-on-3 tournament.
The tournament is underway at the Northern Quest Center Court under the pavilion. Belle Lewis, reporting live from the event, shared her enthusiasm for the game. “I know, I should have picked one up on my way out of the station,” Lewis said, referring to a basketball. “But I am here… watching these amazing athletes behind me warm up while they’re getting ready to play,” she added.
The tournament features teams like Thundercats and Dynasty, with gameplay having just started. This new addition to Hoop Fest aims to expand the number of women in professional basketball. Organizers highlight that events like this provide opportunities for women aspiring to join the national team and even compete in the LA Olympics.
Lewis, who has a personal passion for basketball, expressed her excitement, saying, “I played basketball and I love it. And so I wish I could go ahead and join them. But I’m so excited to be spectating and giving you updates on the Pulse through the day.”
