
FAIRWOOD, Wash. — A woman died after she was struck by a school bus while crossing a street Monday evening in Fairwood.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 5 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian hit by a Mead School District school bus at the intersection of West Hastings Road and West Bellwood Drive.
Investigators said that preliminary information indicates the woman was crossing West Hastings Road from south to north in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the bus. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, deputies said.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office said that they will release the woman’s name, along with the cause and manner of death, at a later time.
Deputies said the incident remains under investigation.
