Woman hospitalized following drive-by shooting on East Decatur Avenue in Spokane

UPDATE: January 28, 2026 at 5:28 p.m.

According to Spokane Police Department (SPD) investigators at the scene, an adult female victim was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following what authorities believe was a drive-by shooting.

A neighbor placed the call to 911, reporting that the victim had been shot in the front yard of a residence in the 1500 block of East Decatur Avenue.

Authorities have not yet confirmed how many shots were fired during the incident. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit have arrived on scene to assist with the investigation.

SPD officials noted that no arrests have been made at this time, however, there is no threat to the public and the roadway has been fully reopened.

The incident was first reported around 3 p.m., according to SPD Public Information Officer Daniel Strassenberg.

Authorities have not confirmed the circumstances leading to the shooting or the number of shots fired.
