SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – A woman was arrested on October 22 after deputies encountered her driving a vehicle that was reported stolen, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported.

The incident happened at 12:55 p.m. when deputies on patrol received an alert about a stolen vehicle in the 1400 block of North Fancher Road. They stopped the car on East Trent Avenue after confirming it was reported stolen from the Coeur d’Alene Casino on October 19. The driver, a 27-year-old woman, was safely detained and questioned.

The SCSO reported that the woman’s story changed several times during questioning until she eventually admitted she knew the car was stolen. The original report from the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police mentioned that “the son of the registered owner of the car” had given the keys to the suspect to warm up the car while he stayed inside the casino. Upon his return, both the car and suspect were gone.

Deputies searched the car and found suspected drug paraphernalia and a bindle containing the suspect’s driver’s license and a small amount of what they believed was methamphetamine.

The woman was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of taking a motor vehicle without permission and possession of a controlled substance. She also faced unrelated misdemeanor charges of violation of a court order and malicious mischief. Her bond was set at $2,500.
