SPOKANE, Wash. – A woman charged in a hit-and-run incident involving a child made her first court appearance.

Michelle Clarke, 50, is facing charges of vehicular assault and hit and run. The incident took place on West Wellsley Avenue when a child riding an electric dirt bike was hit by a car.

Fortunately, the child did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was able to identify Clarke as the driver.

When police contacted Clarke later that day, court documents indicated she was slurring her words and changing her story about her whereabouts.

Clarke agreed to a breathalyzer test, which reportedly showed a blood alcohol level of 0.204, considered dangerously high. She is currently held on a $75,000 bond.
