Whitworth University to offer simplified tuition rate

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University is making college more accessible with a new transparent tuition model.

Starting in the 2026-27 academic year, Whitworth will offer a simplified undergraduate tuition rate of $26,900, a significant reduction from the current $54,000 rate, the university said in a release.

“By clarifying the actual cost of attending Whitworth, we’re providing much-needed transparency around college pricing,” President Scott McQuilkin says. “This bold step reflects our commitment to service and responsiveness to students and their families and empowers them to make informed, confident decisions about Whitworth’s transformative, Christ-centered education of mind and heart.”

Whitworth will continue to provide academic scholarships and institutional aid, ensuring current students pay about the same as they would without the adjustment, the university said.

Josh Hibbard, vice president for enrollment management, noted, “This tuition clarification empowers students from all backgrounds to take that life-changing step toward higher education.”

The university said the shift is particularly beneficial for first-generation and underrepresented students, addressing a major barrier that deters nearly 70 percent of families from considering private colleges due to sticker price concerns.
