While owner battles illness, thieves break into downtown Spokane coffee shop

SPOKANE, Wash – Beloved Spokane businesswoman Celeste Shaw has been battling a serious illness, posting updates about her health from the hospital. Friday’s update included news someone broke into her downtown coffee shop Coco.

Coco is on Main Avenue near Division on the east side of downtown.

Shaw posted Friday morning that someone broke in and that items have been broken, damaged, stolen and destroyed.

“I feel so ill and now I am heartbroken,” Sahw posted. “Coco will be closed through the weekend while we assess the damage.”

Shaw is a beloved business owner in Spokane, previously opening Chaps and Lucky Vintage shop.

Within minutes of posting the update on Instagram, more than 100 people commented, offering help and prayers.

Main Avenue Tattoo posted, saying “Someone broke into Cocos cafe in our building last night. Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.”

4 News Now has reached out to Spokane Police and we continue to gather information about what happened.
