SPOKANE–Wash.– The moon will turn a bloody shade of red tonight, but only the most dedicated night owls and early birds will get a chance to see it. A Total Lunar Eclipse will be visible in the early hours of March 3rd across much of the United States and Canada.
The Earth’s shadow begins to move over the moon at 12:44 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, but you’re unlikely to notice that anything is happening until close to 2 a.m. The eclipse becomes total at 3:04 and continues until 4:03. If you don’t want to get up well before the crack of dawn, the partial eclipse will continue until 5:17 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Weather conditions look likely to hold out for good viewing of the lunar eclipse in the Inland Northwest. Sky conditions will go from clear to partly cloudy in the early morning with temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s.
