SPOKANE, Wash. – With the Mariners losing 8–2 and the American League Championship Series now tied at 2–2, the series is heading back to Toronto for game six and game seven (if needed). Fans looking to follow Seattle across the border could be in for a hefty bill.
Flights
Round-trip flights from Seattle to Toronto next weekend start around $1,800 total for two passengers — about $900 per person on Delta and WestJet with a layover in Vancouver. For travelers looking for a faster route through Atlanta, those tickets rise closer to $1,950 total.
“As a law student, funds necessarily aren’t there,” said Ben Walters, a Gonzaga Law student from Seattle. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing to see your Seattle team be this close to the World Series. It’s not something that happens very often.”
Hotels
There’s also a big difference in hotel prices. A basic downtown stay runs roughly $90 per night, or about $214 total after taxes for the weekend. But fans looking to stay directly inside Rogers Centre can book the Marriott City Centre’s Queen Bedroom — for around $1,407 total for two nights.
“You know, I’d really love to,” said longtime Mariners fan Mitchell Panzeri. “Don’t quite have the vacation days for it. But any Mariners fan that can make the trip out should definitely do it.”
Game Tickets
Tickets for Games 6 and 7 at Rogers Centre range widely. Upper deck seats start around $230–$255 each, about $974 total for two people. But if you want to sit field level, the price skyrockets — from $5,200 per ticket for Game 6 to as high as $16,000 each for Game 7.
“When I win the lottery, I’d take my friends and do the whole thing — cough up about a hundred grand to go,” said Dan Lowry.
The Total Cost
If you’re looking for the budget route — cheap flights, low-cost hotel, and seats in the nosebleeds — the trip would cost about $3,000 total for two people.
But if you go all-in — premium flights, a hotel inside the stadium, and Diamond Club seats — that number jumps to roughly $46,000.
