Western Washington man in jail for copper wire theft in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Western Washington man is in jail after being accused of stealing more than $125,000 worth of copper wire along the North South Corridor Freeway in Spokane.

Patrick Lindquist made his first court appearance this afternoon.

According to court documents, Lindquist stole wire from streetlights and electrical boxes in various areas of Spokane County.

The court ordered Lindquist to remain in jail with a $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on the 22nd.

Copper wire theft has been significantly impacting Washington’s Department of Transportation.

Each year, the department reportedly loses about half a million dollars due to this issue.
