Western Pines Fire holds at 5,800 acres with 0% containment, some evacs downgraded

The Western Pines Fire remains over 5,812 acres with 0% containment, though some evacuation levels have been downgraded.

According to fire officials, Level 1 and Level 3 evacuations are still in effect. All Level 2 areas have been downgraded to Level 1 (Be Ready). While some evacuations have eased, officials urge residents to stay vigilant due to high temperatures and potential wind gusts that could increase fire activity.

Crews will continue reinforcing existing fire lines and begin mop-up operations along the perimeter. Firefighters will also patrol for spot fires and engage them as needed.

UPDATE: July 12, 9:43 a.m.

The Western Pines Fire has been held at 5,867 acres, but is still 0% contained. Level 2 and 3 evacuations are still in effect.

The initial fire started about 10 miles Northeast of Davenport, WA, and has grown from there .

Yesterday, firefighters fought increased activity on the western edge of the fire, where the fire had a short advancement.

Firefighters were quickly able to reestablish fire lines and hold the fire throughout the night, according to a report by the Northeast Washington Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team, who is in command of the fire.

Additionally, 20-person hand crews worked to connect fire lines in areas inaccessible by dozers, mostly within Harker and Mill Canyon.

Today, ground and aerial crews and resources will continue to focus on the southern perimeter of the fire. Structural protection teams will continue to evaluate the at-risk structures in the area and provide protection.

Once again, increased fire activity is expected in the afternoon and crews will continue to monitor existing fire lines.

Where strengthened fire lines have been established, crews will also begin removing burning material close to the line, which will lead to an increase in containment.

UPDATE: July 11, 2025 10:20 a.m.

The Western Pines fire has grown to 5,837 acres and is still 0% contained, according to the Northeast Washington Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team.

Increased fire activity is expected into the afternoon and Level 2 and 3 evacuations are still in effect. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said that they will update evacuation zones and provide notices by phone within affected areas and through their Facebook.

Yesterday, the fire grew towards the south because of the topography and the wind, advancing within Harker and Mill Canyon and towards Angel Springs Road and Green Canyon Road.

Firefighters utilized aerial retardant and water drops to slow down the fire’s progress, which allowed crews to build indirect lines for the advancing fire.

Firefighters also contained a spot fire northwest of the fire near Pine Ridge.

Crews worked overnight to patrol the fire and strengthen fire lines.

Today, firefighters plan to focus on connecting fire lines around the southern perimeter of the fire and evaluate the risk it might pose to structures if it continues.

Because of the increased fire activity risk this afternoon, crews will also continue to monitor existing fire lines as well.

UPDATE: July 10, 2025 5:54 p.m.

According to the Washington Department of Natural Resources, the fire has expanded to 4,136 acres.

Level 3 and 2 evacuations remain in place for the Western Pines area.

UPDATE: July 10, 2025 11:10 a.m.

An update from the Northeast Washington Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team #1, which assumed command of the fire at 7 a.m. this morning, established that the fire is actually 3,787 acres and is 0% contained.

The fire is burning mainly between Old Hughes Road North and Bald Ridge Road North. Previous evacuations are still in place.

Today, ground crews will focus on connected fire lines around the perimeter of the fire and structure protection crews will continue to target areas of opportunity and structures within evacuation zones.

Crews are being broken into divisions and strike teams from state mobilization are helping to relieve local resources so that they can return to their districts.

78 personnel are currently on the scene aiming to fully suppress the fire.

The cause is still under investigation, but the recent report suggested it may be human caused.

UPDATE: July 10, 2025 7:51 a.m.

Level 3 and 2 evacuations are still in place for the Western Pines area.

A scan posted last night by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fire had grown to 4,000 acres.

Firefighters were working on setting up fire lines as of last night at 10 p.m.

Below are the evacuations ordered as of last night at 10 p.m., which Lincoln City Sheriff’s Office said will continue until further notice.

UPDATE 5:56 P.M.

According to WildCAD, the fire has grown to 2100 acres in size.

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. – An evacuation notice went up for the Western Pines area near Carp Lake and Western Pines Road due to a large wildfire.

If you are in the area, evacuate immediately and stay out until further notice, says the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The wildfire is burning near Carp Lake and Western Pines Road and winds are pushing the fire northeast.
