GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – The Grant County Health District has lifted the water quality advisory for the Pelican Horn area of Moses Lake.
The advisory was initially issued on July 10 due to a sewage spill, the district said in a release.
The district said recent testing confirmed E. coli levels in the lake have returned to normal.
E. coli is a fecal coliform bacteria that can cause illness if exposure levels are high.
The incident began on Monday, July 7, at 6:30 a.m., when a sewage line broke near the lake’s shoreline on Lakeside Drive.
The City of Moses Lake quickly responded by shutting off the wastewater line and activating emergency protocols. The district said the line was repaired within a week.
Regular water testing by the Grant County Health District and the City of Moses Lake showed steady improvement, with levels now back to normal, the district said.
