WASHINGTON — Washington state health care leaders have outlined their plans for utilizing new federal rural health funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Leaders have announced that Washington applied for the program to enhance technology, hospital infrastructure, behavioral health and opioid treatment.

CMS has awarded Washington approximately $181,000. Montana will receive $233,000 and Idaho will receive $185,000.

CMS stated the funding will be partially used to advance the “Make Rural America Healthy Again” goals.

Over the summer, Health Secretary RFK Jr. joined Idaho Governor Brad Little to discuss the state’s health policies, declaring Idaho a model for the “Make America Healthy Again” campaign.
