WASHINGTON STATE — A recent study by WalletHub has ranked Washington as the second-worst state to drive in for 2026, coming in 49th place, just below Hawaii. The report analyzed factors such as gas prices and road safety.
Washington scored poorly in cost of vehicle ownership, largely due to high gas prices. Despite a good safety score, high car theft rates and limited access to repair services negatively impacted the state’s overall ranking.
In comparison, the neighboring state of Idaho ranked 20th overall in the study.
