MONROE, Wash. – Inmates at the Monroe Correctional Complex experienced a rare treat with a live concert, marking a significant event for many who hadn’t heard live music in years.
The concert featured performances by The Black Tones, led by KEXP DJ Eva Walker, and Seattle musician Ayron Jones. Jones played a mix of his own songs and classics by Prince and Jimi Hendrix.
Incarcerated artists also took the stage, showcasing their talents to fellow inmates.
This event marked a historic moment for the prison, as officials believe it was the first concert since Johnny Cash performed there in 1971.
