SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the first measles outbreak in the state since 2023. Three unvaccinated children in Snohomish County, ages 23 months to 9 years, tested positive for the virus.
DOH officials linked these cases to a family from South Carolina who visited King and Snohomish Counties while infectious from December 27, 2025, to January 1, 2026.
Officials warned that additional secondary cases might emerge through January 22. Potential exposure locations include the Pathfinder Kindergarten Center in Everett and Serene Lake Elementary School in Edmonds on January 9, as well as the Swedish Mill Creek Campus medical facility in Everett on January 13.

This outbreak in Snohomish County follows the DOH’s recent confirmation of a measles case in Kittitas County that involved a student at Central Washington University.
