Washington state adds jobs but sees unemployment rise in eastern region

WASHINGTON STATE — New data from the Employment Security Department revealed that Washington state added around 9,000 jobs last month. However, unemployment rates have increased in eastern Washington.

Statewide, the average unemployment rate rose from 4.6% to 4.7%, while the national rate stands at approximately 4.2%.

Eastern Washington shows a disparity in unemployment rates across counties, with Ferry County at 9% and Asotin County at 4%.
