Washington retail surge with $9B in sales, report shows

WASHINGTON STATE — Retail sales have seen a notable increase across most counties in Washington, according to a recent report from the Department of Revenue.

The report highlights a nearly 4% rise in taxable retail sales during the third quarter of 2025. The state reached sales of more than $63 billion, with significant contributions from furniture, electronics and construction sectors.

Seattle emerged as the leader among the state’s largest cities, recording over $9 billion in taxable retail sales, marking an increase of more than four percent. Bellevue and Tacoma followed in second and third places respectively.

In Eastern Washington, Spokane reached almost $2 billion in sales, although this represented a one percent decrease from the previous year. In contrast, Kennewick experienced a significant boost, bringing in nearly $800 million, which is a jump of nearly 8%.
