SEATTLE, Wash. – Washington health groups have taken legal action against the federal government, aiming to stop the deletion of vital health data and resources from federal websites. These resources are frequently used by healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses.
The Washington State Medical Association has reported that since January, the federal executive branch has removed and altered numerous websites. This includes data on topics such as pregnancy risks, opioid-use disorder, and the AIDS epidemic. These actions are reportedly part of the administration’s anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, according to the association.
The legal suit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. It seeks to compel the administration to restore the deleted websites and halt any further removal of public health data. The suit emphasizes that federal law mandates this information be accessible to the public.
