OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is seeking public comments on 21 public land acquisition proposals across the state.

The proposals include acquisitions in Asotin, Chelan, Douglas, Garfield, Grant, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lewis, Lincoln, Mason, Okanogan, Skagit, Spokane, Wahkiakum and Whitman counties.

Public land acquisitions occur when the state government purchases or otherwise acquires privately held lands, and then designates them for public use.

“WDFW takes its role in managing public lands very seriously and carefully weighs the conservation and recreation value of new acquisitions,” WDFW lands division manager Kevin Connally said in a press release. “We’ve recently seen how much the public values access to our shared outdoor spaces, and WDFW is focused on responsible stewardship of land that promotes outdoor opportunities and conservation of fish, wildlife, and habitats.”

For more information about the proposed land acquisitions, visit the WDFW website.

Those interested in submitting comments can send an email to lands@dfw.wa.gov through November 26.

Physical mail can also be sent to WDFW at PO Box 43200, Olympia, WA 98504.
