Washington AG Nick Brown pushes tech companies to block deepfake porn

WASHINGTON – Washington Attorney General Nick Brown, along with AGs from Idaho, Oregon, and Wyoming, have urged tech companies and payment platforms to block computer-generated pornography.

This call to action comes after President Trump signed a ban on sharing nonconsensual explicit deepfakes earlier this year.

In Washington, a recent law has made it illegal to share deepfake pornography without consent.

The bipartisan group’s two letters sent last month highlighted a concerning statistic: 98% of fake videos online target women and girls.

Brown and his colleagues emphasized the need for proactive measures to protect individuals from this growing issue.

They urged tech companies to take immediate action to prevent the spread of such content.

The coalition of attorneys general aims to ensure safer online spaces by addressing this pressing concern.
