
WASHINGTON – The state of Washington is moving forward in its efforts to create a cleaner transportation future with $19.4 million allocated to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The Department of Commerce announced that the funds from the Washington Electric Vehicle Charging Program will support the development of new Level 2 and DC fast-charging stations across various locations.
These locations include communities, multifamily housing, workplaces, tribal sites and public agency sites. The goal is to establish a reliable charging network aimed at reducing transportation emissions in the state.
Applications for this funding are due by December 18, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. PT. Eligible applicants include public agencies, tribal entities, retail electric utilities, nonprofits and private entities. However, private entities must meet additional requirements to qualify.
Applicants have the opportunity to attend informational conferences to learn more about the application process.
The first conference is scheduled for October 15, 2025, while a Tribal Applicants’ Conference is set for October 14, 2025. Although attendance is not mandatory, it is encouraged to help applicants better prepare their submissions.
Standard projects can receive up to $12,500 per port for Level 2 chargers and $150,000 per port for Level 3 chargers. Innovation projects may receive up to $1.5 million per project.
Applicants are advised to carefully review program requirements, gather necessary materials and submit all application components through the grant application portal by the deadline.
