ROYAL CITY, Wash. – Firefighters have contained the Wanapum Fire, a wildland blaze that burned more than 60 acres near Royal City.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the fire initially started Wednesday night and was contained. However, strong winds reignited the flames, which crossed containment lines around 11 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies said firefighters used both ground and air resources to bring the fire under control. The fire burned grass and sage, but no structures or homes were threatened. As of Thursday afternoon, the fire was fully contained.
