WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Walla Walla Public Schools is set to unveil the largest electric school bus fleet in Washington State, the district said in a release.
A ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m will be held at the Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative on Entley Street.
“We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this milestone in sustainable student transportation,” Superintendent Dr. Wade Smith said.
The fleet, funded by a $3.7 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency and a $1 million grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology, consists of 18 electric buses.
The district said the new buses are expected to save around $4,000 per bus annually in fuel costs.
