University of Idaho murder trial delay requested by Kohberger’s defense

MOSCOW, Idaho – The defense team for Bryan Kohberger, who is accused of killing four University of Idaho students, has requested a delay in his trial.

The motion to delay the trial was filed by the defense today. They argue that “any conviction and sentence resulting from a capital trial beginning in August 2025 will be unconstitutionally imposed and vulnerable to reversal.”

Kohberger’s attorneys cited “prejudicial” publicity and the extensive investigation still required as reasons for the requested delay.

The defense contends that the current timeline does not allow for a fair trial due to the ongoing investigation and public scrutiny.
