SPOKANE, Wash. – A Ukrainian immigrant has opened his second business in Spokane, crediting Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners (SNAP) for its support.
Igor Yorke, owner of Sweet Tooth, a new doughnut and coffee shop on South Hill, expressed his gratitude for SNAP’s assistance. “Without SNAP… I won’t have Cedar Coffee… and this one… SNAP, it’s like my mom, in business and in Spokane, it’s true,” said Yorke.
Since their grand opening this October, Sweet Tooth has been bustling with customers. Yorke emphasized that SNAP’s support was crucial in making the business a reality.
SNAP offers a variety of resources for local businesses aiming to start up. PJ Ellis with SNAP explained that business owners can fill out a business loan inquiry at snapfinancialaccess.org, under the small business lending page. “Whether those businesses are brand new or just come into existence. We found that a lot of times borrowers just need capital to launch and get started, and we are trying to fill that role,” said Ellis.
SNAP seeks to work with low-income, minority, or women-controlled businesses, as well as those in rural counties. Ellis encouraged potential applicants to reach out, noting that it usually does not take long for SNAP to respond.
For those considering starting a small business, SNAP might offer the assistance needed to get started.
