The United States military announced that it killed eleven people using lethal kinetic strikes on three boats.
The strikes are the most recent in a series of over 40 strikes against alleged narcotics traffickers, which have been posted on social media by U.S. military accounts.
The strikes were announced by the U.S. South Command X account, which is the official account for U.S. military activity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and were engaged in narco-trafficking operations,” the post said. The strikes were launched late on Feb. 16, the post said.
A compilation of videos of each strike was included.
U.S. South Command said four people were killed in the first strike, four more in the second strike, and three in the third strike. It said the first two strikes took place in the eastern Pacific, while the third took place in the Caribbean.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hesgeth reposted the strike announcement and wrote, “Turns out President’s Day — under President Trump — is not a good day to run drugs.”
