MIAMI, Fla. – President Donald Trump addressed business leaders in Miami, focusing on what he sees as his economic achievements. This comes as Democrats secured significant victories in key races nationwide, with many campaigns centered on cost of living concerns.
During his speech, President Trump discussed Senator Chuck Schumer and the Democrats’ historical approach to passing continuing resolutions (CRs). He urged the “radical Democrat Congress” to pass a clean funding bill, which he said has been done 30 times before.
“Their big portion big portions of their campaigns had to do specifically focused on cost of living concerns,” Trump said.
President Trump pointed out that despite Republicans holding leadership roles in all three branches of government, they need Democratic support to break the filibuster and pass a CR. He noted that when Democrats were in control, they collaborated with Republicans to pass CRs, highlighting the current challenge of getting bipartisan support.
One of the major storylines from the election was the New York mayoral race, which saw a historic turnout with 21 million voters. Mayor-elect Zoran Mondani expressed interest in working with President Trump.
“I continue to be interested in having a conversation with President Trump on the ways in which we can work together to serve New Yorkers,” Mondani said.
President Trump has commented on Mondani and Senator Chuck Schumer, suggesting that Mondani’s position might be advantageous for the GOP. There is speculation that if challenges arise in New York, Mondani could become a focal point for Republican narratives.
Democrats celebrated major wins in the elections, and the focus now turns to how President Trump will respond to these developments.
