WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump is expected to sign an executive order on Monday that would change how marijuana is classified in the United States, according to multiple outlets.

The move would reclassify marijuana as a Schedule III drug from its current status as a Schedule I.

Schedule I is the strictest category in controlled substances. Other Schedule I substances include heroin, LSD and MDMA.

Drugs in the Schedule III category include ketamine and anabolic steroids.

Re-classifying the drug also known as cannabis would not legalize it nationwide, however alter certain tax regulations for companies and sellers.
