Trooper hit, injured in Pierce County just days after another was struck, killed days before

TACOMA, Wash. — A second Washington State Patrol trooper in just two days was struck by a vehicle in Pierce County Sunday morning.

A Washington State Patrol District 1 spokesperson wrote on twitter that the trooper was helping a driver along Highway 512 when he was hit by a car. He had to be taken to the hospital, but the spokesperson said his injuries weren’t life-threatening.

The spokesperson said the driver who struck the trooper wasn’t impaired but also wasn’t paying attention.

The crash happened just over a day after another .

Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was killed in that crash along Highway 509.
